Materials Needed

Worsted weight yarns, 4 ounces green, 1 ounce black, green, purple, blue, red, orange. A few yards of cotton crochet threads, size #10, bedspread weight, black and white. Crochet hooks, size I and size B.

Ninja Turtle – For Childs Scarf – Make 8 – 2 of each mask color

Rnd 1: With Green and size I hook ch 8, make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in next ch. (Dc in next ch) 3 times. Hdc in next st. Make 3 sc in end ch. Working on opposite side of ch, hdc in next ch, (dc in next ch) 3 times. Hdc in last ch. Join to first sc with sl st. (16 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in joining. (Make 2 sc in next st) twice. Hdc in each of the next 5 sts. (Make 2 sc in next st) 3 times. Hdc in each of the last 5 sts. Join to first sc with sl st. (22 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, make 2 sc in joining. Sc in next st. (Make 2 sc in next st) twice. Sc in next st. Make 2 sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 5 st. Make 2 sc in next st. Sc in next st. Tail of Bandana – Row 1: With color of bandana ch 2. Make 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each of the 2 sc. (2) Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Make 2 sc in each of the sc. (4 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Rows 4-10: Sc in each sc across. (4 sc) Ch 1, turn. Row 11: (Sc 2 sc together) twice. (2 sc) Ch 1, turn. Row 12: (Make 2 sc in next sc) twice. (4 sc) Ch 1, turn. Rows 13-15: Sc in each sc across. (4 sc) Ch 1 turn.

Row 16: (Sc next 2 sc together) twice. (2 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 17: Sc in each of the 2 sc. (2 cs) Ch 1, turn.

Row 18: Sc both sc together. End off and weave in end. Fold in half and sew to side of head as shown on cover.

Divide the faces in half by colors: 4 – one each of blue, red, orange and purple. Sew four faces together at bottom of face to top of face as shown below.

Sew two ends together at tops of head as shown below.

Mouth – make 8 – Row 1: With Black yarn ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc in next ch, make 2 dc in next ch. Dc in each of the next 3 ch. Make 2 dc in next ch. Hdc in next ch, sc in next ch. Sl st in last ch. End off leaving a 15” tail to sew to face as shown below.

Eyes – Make 2 for each square – Rnd 1: With white cotton crochet thread and size B hook, ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch, 1, turn. (7 sc)

Rnds 2- 4: Sc in each sc across. Ch, 1, turn. (7 sc)

Rnd 5: Sc first 2 sc together. Sc in each of the next 3 sc. Sc last 2 sc together. Ch, 1 turn. (5 sc) Rnd 6: Sc in each of the 5 sc across. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Rnd 7: Sc in first sc. Sc next 3 sc together. Sc in last sc. (3 sc)

Finishing White of Eye: Do not end off, but turn and sc down rows 7-1, across bottom, up rows 1-7 and across top. Join to first sc with a sl st. End off leaving a 20” tail to sew to mask. Note: Make 3 sc in bottom corner and 2 sc in top corners to keep work flat.

Pupil – Rnd 1: With Black cotton crochet thread and size B hook. Ch 2, make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc with sl st. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in each sc around. Join to first sc with sl st. (12 sc) End off leaving a 12” tail to sew to white of eye.

Finishing Eye: Sew pupil to middle bottom of eye as shown below. Sew White of eye to mask as shown below.
