Materials Need:
- Various amounts of #3 cotton crochet thread (I use Aunt Lydia’s.) and a Size D or 0 crochet hook.
- Stiffener (Your favorite or the recipe below.)
- A hot glue gun and glue
- Purchased Bulb caps (or the homemade ones that follow these patterns.)
- Small amount of nylon thread for #4
- Glitter (opt.)

#1. Purple and Lavender
Make 4
With lavender make a magic ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 4 (counts as the 1st dc and ch 1.) * dc in the ring and ch 1. Rep from * 10 more times. End with a sl st into the 4th ch of the beg ch 4. (12 dc and 12 ch 1 spaces made.)
Rnd 2. Sl st into the 1st ch 1 space. Ch 2 and dc in the same space. (Beginning cluster made.) Ch 1, * in the next ch 1 space make a 2 dc cluster and ch 1. Rep from * around. Join to top of the beg cluster with a sl st.
End off and weave in the end.
Join color 2 in any ch 1 space.
Rnd 3. Ch 3 and make 2 more dc in the same space. Ch 1, * make 3 dc in the next ch 1 space and ch 1. Rep from * around. Join to the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 3. (36 dc and 12 ch 1 spaces made.)
Rnd 4. Sl st in each of the next 2 dcs and into the next ch 1 space. Ch 3 and make 4 more dc in the same space. * Make 5 dc in the next space. Rep from * around. Join to the top of the beg ch 3 with a sl st. End off and weave in the end.

#2. Multicolored
Make 4
With thread ch 5 and join to form a circle.
Rnd 1. Ch 2 and make a 3 dc cluster. (The beginning ch 2 counts as the 1st st of a beginning 4 dc cluster.) Ch 3 and * Make a 4 dc cluster in the ring. Ch 3, rep from * 4 more times for a total of 6 clusters. Join to the top of the beginning cluster with a sl st.
Rnd 2. Sl st into the 1st ch 3 space. Ch 2 and make a 3 dc cluster. Ch 3 and make a 4 dc cluster in the same space. Ch 3, * In the next ch 3 sp make (cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Ch 3 and repeat from * around. End with a sl st in the beginning cluster. (12 clusters made.)
Rnd 3. Sl st in the 1st ch3 sp. Ch 3 and make 2 more dc in the same space. In the next ch 3 space make (3 dc and ch 6, dc in the 5th ch from the hook and the next ch.) Make 3 more dc in the same ch 3 space.

With peach thread make a magic circle.
Rnd 1. Ch 3 and dc in ring. Ch 2, * make 2 dc in the ring and ch 2. Rep from * 6 more times for a total of 16 dc. Join to the top of the beg ch 3 with a sl st.
Rnd 2. Ch 1, * sc in each of the next 2 dc and ch 3. Rep from * around. Join to the beg sc with a sl st.
Rnd 3. Sl st into the 1st⁷ ch 3 space. Ch 1, * in the space make a sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc and a sc. Rep from * around. Join to the 1st sc with a sl st.
Rnd 4. Sl st in the hdc and each of the next 2 dc. Ch 3 and dc in the same st. Ch 2 and make 2 dc in the same st. Ch 3, * In the center dc of the next shell next make, 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc. Ch 3, rep from * around.

#4 Pink Round
With Pink thread ch 40 and join to the 1st ch made with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 1 and sc in each ch around. Join to the 1st sc made with a sl st.
Rnd 2. Ch 1 and sc in the 1st st. Ch 6 and sk 3 sc * sc in the next sc. Ch 6 and sk 3 sc. Rep from * around. End the round with a sl st in the 1st sc made.
Rnd 3. * Make 3 sc in the next ch 6 loop, ch 3 and make 3 more sc in the same loop. Sl st in the next sc. Repeat from * around. End with a sl st in the beg st. End off and weave in the end. Set the piece aside and rep 3 more times.
Middle Star – Make 1
Note: For this picot I like to ch 3 and sc in the 3rd ch from the hook.
With yellow make a magic circle. Ch 1 and in the ring make (sc, dc, picot, dc and sc) 4 times. End with, in the ring make a sc dc, picot and a dc. Join to the beginning sc With a sl st. End off and weave in the end.i
Note: For this ornament only, I like to draw circles approximately the size of a small mouth mason jar lid on parchment or any non-stick paper. Dip each piece in the stiffener and stretch the pieces out on the parchment so they are all similar in size. Partially dry and then fold and place over your form to dry completely. (Leave The star flat.)
#5 Teal Diamond
With teal thread ch 10 and join to form a ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 2 and dc in the ring. Ch 2, * make a 2 dc cluster. Rep from 10 more times. Join to the top of the beginning cluster with a sl st. (12 clusters made.)
Rnd 2. Sl st into the 1st ch 2 space. Ch 2 and make a 2 dc cluster in the same space ch 3, *Make a 3 dc cluster in the next ch 2 space. Ch 3, repeat from *around. End either a sl st in the top of the beginning cluster.
Rnd 3. Ch 2, (counts as the beginning ch 5. * Sk 1 ch 3 loop in the next loop make (3 dc cluster, ch 2, 3 dc cluster, ch 4, 3 dc cluster, ch 2 and a 3 dc cluster.) Ch 3 and skip the next ch 3 loop. Hdc in the top of the next cluster. Ch 3 and repeat from * around. End with a sl st in the 2nd ch of the beginning ch 5.
Rnd 4. Ch 1 and sc in the joining. *Make 3 sc in the next ch 3 loop. Sc in the cluster. Make 2 sc in the next loop. Sc in the next cluster. Make 5 sc in the corner loop. Sc in the next cluster. General Assembly
Dip each piece in your favorite stiffener. (I used undiluted Elmer’s glue.
1. Drape over any 45 to 90 degree surface covered in plastic wrap and let dry.
2. You will have to pinch each piece to create a smaller angle.
3. Hot glue the edge and hold it to another piece’s edge. Hold until dry. Repeat with each piece.
4. What the piece will look like from the top.
Apply with Glitter if desired.
Cornstarch Stiffener
In a saucepan, combine 2 TBSP of cornstarch and 1⁄2 cup cold water. Cook over medium heat until quite thick. Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm, stirring occasionally. (Can also be put into a small bowl with plastic wrap. Directly place the plastic wrap on top so it does not form a skin.) When starch is cool enough to work with, dip the Item in and wring out the excess. Drap the item over your form and let air dry overnight.
Bulb Top
Use Number 10 metallic crochet thread and a size 7 crochet hook.
Hanger: Make a ch of 20. Fold and knot to form a hanging loop. set aside.
Cap
Make a magic circle and ch 1.
Rnd 1. Make 6 sc in the ring.
Draw the knotted hanger through the center of the circle.
Tighten the ring. Place a drop of glue on the knot to secure and trim all ends.
Rnd 2. Make 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc made.)
Rnd 3 Turning Rnd. Sc in the blo of each of the 12 sc around.
Rnds 4-7. Sc in each st around.
(Sl st into the next st. Ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Hdc in the next ch. Sk 1 sc on base) and rep around. Join to the beg sl st with a sl st. End off and weave in the end. Glue to the top of the bulb.
