Abbreviations Used:

Materials Needed: 1 ounce Red Heart Comfort Sport yarn and size F crochet hook for sizes 6-7 and size G hook for sizes 8-9. Few yards of Ivory cotton crochet thread size #10 bedspread weight and size 8 steel crochet hook.
Special Stitches: Perhaps the most important stitches to learn when making cables are the Front and Back Post Stitches. These stitches are also called a Raised Relief Stitch in some patterns.
Front Post Stitch: Yo (yarn over) your hook; starting from the front, place hook from front to back to front (as per arrow in example) around the post of st (stitch) in row below; complete as a dc or hdc as indicated in pattern.
Back Post Stitch: yo, starting from the back, place hook from back to front to back (as per arrow in example) around post of st in row below; complete as a dc or hdc as indicated in pattern.
Brionna Mitts – Make 2 – Sizes for ages 6-7 are outside of parentheses. Follow directions inside parentheses for size 8-9.
Starting at top of Mitten: With F(G) hook and Blue Yarn, ch 21 (24) loosely. Join to form ring being careful not to twist ch.
Small Cable Cuff – Rnd 1: Ch 3, counts as first dc now and throughout, make 1 dc in each ch around. Join to top of first dc with sl st. [21(24) sts.] Do NOT turn on cuff rounds.

Finish top finger edge: Attach Ivory cotton crochet thread in any st with size 8 steel crochet hook. Ch 1, make 1 sc in st. ** Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook for picot. Make 1 sc in next st. * Repeat from ** to * around. End with picot and join to first sc with sl st. End off and weave in end.

Small Flower- Make 2: With thread and size 8 hook, ch 4, make 9 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join to top of ch-4 with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st and in each dc around; join with sl st to first sc. (10 sc.)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 3, skip next sc, ** sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc;* repeat from ** to * around; join with sl st to first sc. (5 ch-3 spaces.)
Rnd 4: In first space make ** (sl st, ch 2, 4 dc, ch 2 and sl st.) * Repeat from ** to * around in each ch -3 space around. Join with a sl st to first sl st. End off leaving a 12” tail. Sew to mitten side as shown on photo.
