Dog Door Silencer

Materials Needed:  
Scraps of brown worsted weight yarn. Small amount of black cotton crochet thread (size #10). Size G and 8 crochet  hooks. Darning needle. 1/4” craft eye. One inch of 1” Velcro. Glue.  


Abbreviations Used:  
sl st = Slip Stitch  
ch = Chain  
sc = Single crochet  
hdc = Half double crochet  
dc = Double crochet  


Body of Dog  
Row 1: With brown and G hook, ch 55, sc in 3rd ch from hook and in each of the next 22 ch. In next ch make 3 sc  (marking the sccenter sc.) Sc in each of the next 23 ch. In next ch make 3 sc. (marking the center sc as before.) Sc in  remaining 5 ch. Ch 1, turn. (55 sc made.)  

Row 2: Sc in each of the next 5 sc. Make 2 sc in next sc. Sc in marked sc (replacing marker.) Make 2 sc in next sc. Sc in  each of the next 23 scs. Make 2 sc in next sc. Sc in marked sc (replacing marker now and throughout.) Make 2 sc in next  sc. Sc in each of the next 23 sc. Ch 1, turn. (59 sc made.) 

Row 3: Sc in first 20 sc. Leg 1: Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch. Skip 1 sc on body, sc in next sc on body. Leg  2: Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch. Skip 1 sc on body, sc in next sc on body.  
Hdc in marked st. Sc next 25 sts.  

Tail: Ch 12, Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Sc in next 6 ch. Hdc in next ch. Dc in next ch. Skip 1 sc on body, sc in  next sc on body. Hdc in marked st. (You can remove this marked st.) Sc in next st. Back legs: Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook  and in next 2 ch. Hdc in next ch. Skip 1 sc on body, sl st in next ch. Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Hdc in  next ch. Skip 1 sc on body, sc in last 3 sc. End off and weave in end.  

Skip marked st and next 2 sc. Attach yarn in next sc as shown below.  

Neck: Row 1: Ch 1, sc in same st and in each of the next 6 scs.  
Row 2: Sc first 2 sc together. Sc in remaining 4 sc. Ch 5 for nose and head. Turn.  
Row 3: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Dc in next 3 ch. Turn work to begin working across neck.  

Dc in next 3 neck sts. Dc last 2 sts together. Ch 1, turn.  
Row 4: Sc in next sc. Hdc in next st. Dc in next 2 sts. Sc in next st. Sl st in next st. Ch 1, turn.  
Row 5: Skip sl st. Sl st in first sc. Ch 1, dc in each of the next 3, sts. Hdc in next st. Sl st in same last st. End off and weave  in end. Remove all markers. 

Ear-Make 1: With brown and G hook, ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Hdc in next 3 ch. Make 6 hdc in end  ch. Hdc in each of the next 3 ch. Sc in last 3 ch. Sl st in first sc to end round. End off leaving a 12” tail to sew to dog as  shown below.  
Nose: Rnd 1: With black thread and size 8 hook, ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc to form a ring. End  off leaving a 12” tail. Sew to tip of face.  
Finishing  

Sew or Glue each side of Velcro to ends of body. Glue eye to top of face. Close Velcro and measure across 1 1/2” on  inside of dog’s body. Place a marker as shown below.
