Materials Needed:
- 4 ounces of hair color Worsted weight #4 Yarn
- 1 ounce of Red Worsted weight #4 yarn
- 2 ounces of White Worsted weight #4 yarn
- Size I crochet hook
- Darning needle and scissors
Dog Hat – Small – 7″ Circumference, Medium – 9″ and Large – 10″
Rnd 1: With worsted weight yarn and H hook, ch 2 or make a magic circle. Ch 1 and make 5 sc into the ring or 2nd ch from the hook. Join the first lp st with sl st. (5 sc made.)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, make 2 lp st in each st around. Join to the first lp st with sl st. (10 lp st made.)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, (lp st in next lp st, make 2 lp st in next lp st) around. Join to the1st lp st with sl st. (15 lp st made.)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, (lp st in each of the next 2 lp sts, make 2 lp st in next lp st) around. Join to 1st lp st with sl st. (20 lp st made.)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, (lp st in each of the next 3 lp sts, make 2 lp st in next lp st) around. Join to 1st lp st with sl st. (25 lp st made.)

MAKING THE EAR HOLES:
Rnd 9: Ch (10, 12, 14 and sk (5, 6, 7) lp st. lp st in each of the next 10, 11, 14) lp st. Ch (10, 12, 14) sk (5, 6, 7) lp st in last (10, 12, 15) sts. (2 ear holes and 20, 23, 29 lp st made.)
Rnd 10: Sl st into 1st earhole and ch 1. Make (10, 12, 14) lp sts over ear chains. Lp st in each of the next (10, 12, 13) sts. Make (10, 12, 14) lp sts over ear chains
SC st in each of the last (10, 12, 13) sts. (This is where we will put the long hair.) Join to 1st lp st with sl st. (40, 48, 54 lp st made.)
Rnd 11. Lp st in each of the next sts. (34, 36, 41) sts. SC st in each of the last (10, 12, 13) sts. Join to 1st lp st with sl st. For Small and Medium sizes skip next rnd..
Large Size Only: Rep Rnd 11.
Tie Rnd
Lp st in each of the next (5, 6, 7) or until you have reached the middle of the next earhole. Sl st in the next st and ch (30, 35, 40) sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch for the 1st tie. Sl st back into the same st. Loop st into each of the next Middle of the ear and repeat making the tie. Lp st in each st un til the last (10, 12, 13) sts. Sc in these sts. Join to the beginning st and end off
Set aside.
Make back of Mullet
Grab a 5″ piece of cardboard and mark the width of the sc in the back.
Wrap yarn around the cardboard between the lines about 20 to 30 times.
Finish Hair as shown below.
1. Wrap one or two colors of yarn around a 5″ piece of cardboard.
2. Thread a darning needle and knot end.
3. Insert darning needle between cardboard and pull up and through about ¼”. Draw a needle through the knotted portion and pull tight to secure.
4. Insert needle under yarn once again about a ¼” and pull up. Insert needle back about ⅜” and pull back up about ¼” (partway through the last st.) Draw up and tighten. Repeat this step across until all loops are sewn s securely.
Remove yarn carefully and cut bottom loops. Trim as desired.
Sew to the sc back portion. Cut all the loops and trim them neatly. Comb out if
desired.
Bib
Starting at the collar: With red and I hook, ch (40, 56, 76)
Row 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (39, 55, 75 sts made.) Row 2. Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (40, 56, 76 sts made.)
Buttonhole Row 3. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Ch 3 and sk 3 sts. Sc in each remaining st across. Ch 1 and turn. (37, 53, 73 sc and 1 ch3 loop made.
Row 4. Sc in each st until the buttonhole, make 3 sc over the buttonhole. Sc in the rem 2 sts. End off red and weave in the end. (40, 56, 76 sts made.)
Mark the center as shown below.

Using the tail, sew in place.
Left side
Work as for the right side rows 1-11.
Row 12. Sc in each of the 9 sts across. Turn and work down the raw edges of rows 1-12 and make 12 sc down the side. This will be the inside edge. Make 3 sc in the end st. Make 10 sc up the last side. End off leaving a long tail and pin and sew in place as for the opposite side.
Sew a 1″ button opposite the buttonhole.
Finishing
Attach white yarn on the white part only of bib and sc evenly around to the next red piece.
