Falling Leaves Boot Cuffs

Cuff size

  • Small: 12” around  
  • Med: 13” around  
  • Large: 14” around  

Gauge:  

4 sts = 1”, 4 rows sc = 1”.  

Size Small outside of brackets. Sizes Medium and Large, inside of brackets  respectively.  

Materials Needed:  

Cuffs: 3 3/4 ounces Caron Simply Soft Medium #4 (Chocolate shown.) 2 ounces of  any Worsted Weight yarn (Camouflage colored used.) Scraps of 3 fall colors –  worsted weight yarn. Sizes I and G hooks.

Special Stitches:  

Front Post Stitch-fpdc: Yo (yarn over) your hook; starting from the front, place  hook from front to back to front (as per arrow in example) around the post of st  (stitch) in row below; complete as a dc or hdc as indicated in pattern.    

Back Post Stitch-bpdc: yo, starting from the back, place hook from back to front  to back (as per arrow in example) around post of st in row below; complete as a dc  or hdc as indicated in pattern.

Bottom Ribbing  

With Brown yarn and size H hook, ch 42 [48, 54] loosely Join to first ch to form  ring being careful not to twist chain.  

Rnd 1: Ch 3, (counts as dc now and throughout.) Dc in each ch around. (42 [48,  54] stitches made.)  

Rnd 2: Ch 3, fpdc around next dc. Bpdc around next dc. (42 [48, 54] stitches  made.) Join to top of first ch-3 with sl st.  

Rnd 3: Ch 3, fpdc around next fpdc. Bpdc around next bpdc. (42 [48, 54] stitches  made.) Join to top of first ch-3 with sl st.  

Rnds 4 -15: Repeat Rnd 3. End off Brown and weave in end.  

Cuff  

Rnd 16: Attach Camouflage yarn in any dc with a sl st. Ch 1, sc in each of the (42  [48, 54] stitches around.) Join to first sc with a sl st.  

Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join to first sc with sl st. Turn.  Rnds 18-22: Repeat Rnd 16.  

Begin working in rows.  

Center- Rows 23-24: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 46, ch 1, turn. (46 sc made.)  

Row 25: Sc first 2 sc together. Sc in each of the next 42 sc. Sc last 2 sc together.  (44 sc made.)  

Rows 26-27: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 44 sc. Turn  

Finishing: Sl st in each of the rows up and down the center opening (Rows 26-27)  and in ever sc around Row 27. Join to first sl st with sl st. End off leaving a long  enough tail to tack cuff in place.  

Leaves  

Make 3 each of a different Fall color: With size G hook and any worsted  contrasting yarn of your choice, ch 6. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc 

in next ch. Dc in next ch. In end ch make 6 dc. Working along opposite side of  ch, make dc in next ch. Hdc in next ch. Sc in next ch. Sl st in last ch and end with a  sl st into first sl st. End off and weave in ends.  

Stem  

With any brown yarn and G hook, ch 8. Drop hook off of ch. Insert hook in base of  first leaf. Attach with sl st.  

Sl st into 4 ch on the beginning ch-8. 

Ch 8, join bottom second leaf as before. Sl st back into each of the 8 ch just made.  

Ch 4, attach final leaf with sl st. Sl st back into each of the 4 ch just made. Sl st  back into same place as first stem branched out. Sl st into the last remaining 4 chs.  End off leaving a 10” tail to sew to boot cuff. 

Finishing  

Sew leaf bunch to center opening of cuff. Weave in all ends.
