Materials Needed:
Hot Glue gun. Piece of cardboard about 5″ wide. Sizes I and 7 Crochet Hooks. 1 ½ oz of black worsted weight yarn. Scraps of peach, purple, brown and orange worsted weight yarn. Cotton ball size of stuffing. Darning needle and scissors. 2 ounces of gray beard colored yarn. 3 Black cotton thread – small amount.
Hat
With medium black yarn and I hook, make a magic circle. NOTE: You will work 6 rows of Black and then 6 rows of purple.
Rnd 1. Make a magic circle or ch 2 and make 4 sc in circle or the 2nd ch from the hook. Do not join but do mark 1st st. (4 sts made.)
Rnd 2. Sc in each of the 4 sc around.
Rnd 3. Make 2 sc in each st around. (8 sts made.)
Rnds 4-6. Sc in each st around. (8 sts made.) End off black and weave in the end. Join purple in any st from rnd 6.
Rnds 7- 9. Sc in each st around. (8 sts made.)
Rnd 10. Make 2 sc in 1st st. Sc in each of the next 7 sts. (9 sts made.)
Rnd 11. Sc in each st around. (9 sts made.)

Brim.
Rnd 1. Join black in the flo of any st from rnd 36. Ch 2 (counts as a st) flo hdc in each of the next 4 sts. (Make 2 flo hdcs in the next st. Make a flo hdc in each of the next 4 sts) around. Flo hdc in each of the last 3 sts. Join to the 2nd ch of the beg ch 2. (45 sts made.)
Rnd 2. Begin working once again through both loops. Ch 2, hdc in each of the next 7 sts. (Make 2 hdcs in the next st. Hdc in each of the next 8 sts) around. Join to the 2nd ch of the beg ch 2. (48 sts made.

Beard
Grab your 5″ piece of cardboard.
With beard colored yarn, wrap around cardboard about 150 times.
Cut a piece of the same colored yarn about 36″ long. Fold yarn in half and draw under all the top loops with a tail on each side.
Securely tie the two ends (tails) tog and pull off cardboard.
Cut bottom loops of beard.
Spread the top of the beard out and sew the inside of the hat at brim seam.
Nose
Rnd 1. With size I hook and Peach yarn, ch 2 or make a magic circle. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (or in magic circle.) Do NOT join, but do mark 1st st. (6 sc.)
Rnd 2. Make (2 sc in next sc) around. (12 sc.)
Rnd 3. Make (sc in next sc, make 2 sc in next sc) around. (18 sc.)
Rnds 4 – 5. Sc in each of the 18 sts around.
Rnd 6. (Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in next st) around. Join to the 1st sc made. (12 sc.)
Rnd 7. (Sc next 2 sts tog) around. Join and end off weaving in the end. Stuff lightly if desired and glue to beard and hat as shown below.
Hands and arms – Make 2
Rnd 1. With peach and I hook make a magic circle. Ch 2 and make 6 sc in the circle. Do not join.
Rnd 2. Make 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc made.)
Rnds 3 – 7. Sc in each of the 12 sts around. End off Peach and weave in the
end. Attach Black yarn in the last st worked.
Rnd 8. Ch 1 and sc in each of the 12 sc around. Do NOT join.
Rnds 9- 16. Sc in each st around. (12 sc made.) End off leaving a 12″ tail. Flatten arms and sew ends closed.
Set aside
Pumpkin
Rnd 1. With orange yarn make a magic circle. Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. Do not join, but do tighten the ring.
Rnd 2. Make 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc made.)
Rnd 3. (Sc in the next st, make 2 sc in the next st) around. (18 sc made.)
Rnds 4-6. Sc in each of the 18 sts around.
Rnd 7. Sc in the next st, sc the next 2 sts tog) around. (12 sc made.)
Stuff
Rnd 8. (Sc the next 2 sts tog) around. (6 sc made.)
End off leaving a 36″ tail. Draw through the 6 rem sts and close the top. Make the ridges in the pumpkin by drawing the tail through the center of the top to the center of the bottom and tightening. Rep as many times as desired.
Stem
With brown ch 4 and join to the 1st ch with a sl st. End off and tie ends tog. Glue to the top of the pumpkin.

Glue hands to pumpkin.
Arrange arms under an over beard and glue in place to the beard and the hat’s
brim.
Spider
With Black thread and size 7 hook, make a magic circle.
Rnd 1. Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. Do NOT join.
Rnd 2. Make 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc made.)
Rnd 3. Sc in each of the 12 sts around.
Rnd 4. (Sc the next 2 sts tog) around. (6 sc made.)
End off leaving a long tail (about 1 yard.) Thread a needle with the tail and close the hole by drawing through the last 6 sts. Pull closed and secure. Do NOT cut the thread.
With your hook draw a loop up through the opening.
Ch 2 and make a puff st for the head.
Weave in the end.
Legs.
1. Ch 18, end off and pull the thread extremely tight. Cut. 2. Ch 20, end off and pull the thread extremely tight. Cut. 3. Ch 22, end off and pull the thread extremely tight. Cut. 4. Ch 24, end off and pull the thread extremely tight. Cut.
Sew to the body starting at the body towards The head with the shortest 1st.
Note: I like to stiffen the legs with a little modpodge or glue and arrange them on a piece of parchment paper to dry.
Once dry, draw the thread end through bottom and hang from the hat as shown on the cover.
