All flowers pictured were made with #3 cotton Crochet Thread and an old size #2/2.25mm Steel Crochet Hook.

Orchids

Shades of Purple Orchid

Starting with Large Base

Rnd 1. With yellow, ch 6 and join to form a circle.

Rnd 2. Ch 1 and make 11 sc in the ring. Join to the 1st sc made with a sl st. End off and weave in end.

Rnd 3. Attach dark purple in the blo of any yellow sc from last rnd with a sl st. Ch 10 and sl st in the blo of the same st. (Sl st in the blo of the next st. Ch 10 and sl st back into the 7blo of the same st) two times. 3 ch 10 loops made. Sc in the blo of the next st) 3 times. Ch 10 and sl st back into the blo of the same st. (Sc in the blo of the next st) 4 times. Ch 10 and sl st into blo of the same st. Sc in the blo of each of the next 2 sts. Sl st into the 1st sl st made to end rnd.

Rnd 4. **Sl st into each of the the first 2 chs of the ch10. Sc in the next ch. Make 3 hdc in the next ch. In the next ch make (2 dc and 1 trc.) In the next st make (trc and 2 dc.) Make 3 hdc in the next ch. Sc in the next sl st into ch, * Sl st in the last 2 chs of the ch10. Rep from ** to * twice more. Ch 4, and rep fro ** to * once more.

Ch 6 and rep from ** to *. Ch 4 and join to beg sl st with a sl st. end off dark purple and weave in the end.

1. The ch 6 is at the bottom of the orchid. 2. Mark the flo of the center top st you left free on rnd 3. 3. Attach light purple yarn to the 1st st to the right of the marker.

Rnd 5. Ch 1 and sc in the flo of the same st. in marked st, move marker and make sc in the flo of each of the next 2 sts. In the flo of the next st make 5 dc. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. In the next st make (dc and 4 trc.) In the next st make (4 trc and a dc.) Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Make 5 dc in the flo of the next st. Join to 1st sc made with a sl st. Finishing Center: Sl st into the next st. Ch 7 and sl st into the same st. End off and weave in the end.

Join Light purple thread in the 1st sc made lobe as shown below. (Skip all sl sts on this rnd.)


1st lobe. Ch 1 and sc in the same st. (ch 2 and sc in the next st.) around the lobe until sl st is reached. Sl st in each of the next 4 sl sts.

2nd lobe. Sc in the next st.(Ch 2 and sc in the next st.) around lobe until sl st is reached. Sl st in each of the next 4 sl sts. Sc in the next st.

3rd lobe. Sc in the next st.(Ch 2 and sc in the next st.) around lobe until sl st is reached. Skip the next 2 sl sts and make 3 sl sts over the ch4. Continue on to the 4th lobe.

4th lobe. Sk the first 2 sl sts on the 4th lobe. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Make 2 hdc in the next st. Dc in the next st. In the next st make 3 dc. In the next st make (dc, picot and dc.). Make 3 dc in the next st. Dc in the next st. Make 2 hdc in the next st. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sk the next 2 sl sts. Make 4 sl st evenly spaced across the next ch6.

5th lobe. Sk the first 2 sl sts on the 5th lobe. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Make 2 hdc in the next st. Dc in the next st. In the next st make 3 dc. In the next st make (dc, picot and dc.). Make 3 dc in the next st. Dc in the next st. Make 2 hdc in the next st. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sk the next 2 sl sts. Make 3 sl sts over the ch4. Sk 1st 2 sl sts on the 1st lobe. Join to the 1st sc made. End off and weave in the end.

Smaller White Orchid


With white ch 11.

Rnd 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next two chs. Hdc in the next st. Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Hdc in the next stitch. Make 5 scs in the next st. Working on the opposite side of the ch, hdc in the next st. Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Hdc in the next st. Sc in each of the last 3 sts.

Rnd 2. Ch 1 and turn. Sc in each st around

Rnd 3. Ch and turn. Sc in each of the next 11 sts. In the end ch make (sc, ch 2 and sc.) Sc in each of the last 11 sts. Turn piece to work across the end.

Ch 1 and make 3 sc across the end. Sl st into last sc on the side. Ch 1 and turn. Sc all 3 sts tog. End off leaving a tail to later sew tog. Set aside and make 4 more.


Sew the petals tog as shown below. (Leave a little space at bottom.)


Middle Stamen

With yellow make a magic ring..

Rnd 1. Ch 1 and make 8 sc in the ring. Do not join.

Rnd 2. Sc in each of the 8 sc around. At the end of Rnd, ch 12.

Rnd 3. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Join to the next sc on the magic ring. End off Yellow and weave in the end.

Attach purple thread in approximately the 4th ch down from the magic ring.


With purple, ch 5 and make a 3 dtrc cluster in the same st. Ch 5 and sl st back into the st. Sc in the next 2 sts on the yellow stamen. Hdc in the next st. Dc in the next st. Trc in the next st. Dc in the next st. Make 6 dc in the end ch. Working on the opposite side of the ch, Dc in the next st. Trc in the next st. Hdc in the next st. Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sl st into the next st. Ch 5 and make a 3 dtrc cluster in the same st. Ch 5 and sl st back into the st.

End off leaving a long tail and sew to the center of the orchid as shown above.

Pink and Yellow Orchid



Outer Petals

With Pink, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1. ** Ch 1 and sc in ring. Ch 15, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each of the next 13 chs. * Sc back into ring and repeat from ** to * once more.

Sc in the ring and rep from ** to once more. Join to the beg sc with a sl st. (3 long spikes made.)

Rnd 2. Ch 1 and ** sc in the 1st st on the 1st spike. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Trc in each of the next 4 sts. Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. In the end ch make (sc, ch 1 and sc.) Working of the opposite side of the ch, hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Trc in each of the next 4 sts. Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in the next st.* Rep from ** to * twice more for a total of 3 petals made. Join to beg sc with sl st.


Center of Flower

With pink, ch 12.

Lobe 1 – Rnd 1. ** Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Dc in the next ch. Trc in the next 5 chs. Dc in the next ch. Sc in each of the next 3 chs *. Lobe 2 – Rnd 1. At end of Lobe 1, ch 12 and rep from ** to * Join to beg sc with sl st.

Rnd 2. Sl st in the next 3 sts. **Sc in the next sc. Dc in the next st. (Make 2 trc in the next st) 3 times. (Make 2 dc in the next st) 3 times. Dc in each of the next 2 sts. (Make 2 dc in the next st) 3 times. (Make 2 trc in the next st) 3 times. Dc in the next st. Sc in the next st. * Sl st to the next sc on the 2nd lobe. ** to * once more.

Finishing. Sl st in each st around. Join to 1st sl st with sl st. End off and weave in the end.

Middle Stamen

Attach yellow thread in the center as shown below.


With yellow ch 15. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook. Dc in each of the next 3 chs. Sc in each of the next 9 chs. Sl st back into the petals. End off and weave in the end.

Attach yellow thread in the 1st ch made.

Sl st in each of the next 9 chs. Ch 7, trc in the 5th ch from the hook. Dc in the next ch and sc in the last ch.

Sl st back into stamen and sl st around until you are in the opposite side of the piece you just made and ch 7.

Trc in the 5th ch from the hook. Dc in the next ch and sc in the last ch. trc in the 5th ch from the hook. Dc in the next ch and sc in the last ch.

Finishing. Place centerpiece over back petals and sew in place.
