Abbreviations Used:

st = stitch ch = chain

sc = single crochet dc = double crochet

Guage. 20 sts = 5" and 37 rows = 6" in sc.

Cuff = 7 - 8"

Materials Needed. 3 ounces Gray Red Heart Super Saver yarn, ½ ounce Red, Red Heart Super Saver yarn and size H crochet hook. Few yards of white cotton crochet thread size #10 bedspread weight and size 2-4 (whatever you have) steel crochet hook.

Beer Mitt

ROW 1. Starting at cuff, with Gray yarn and H hook loosely ch 9. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (8 sc made.) Turn.

Row 2. Ch 1 and sc in back loop (bl) of each st across. (8 sc made.) Turn. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 7", 8".

Seam Row. (Can also be sewn tog.) Sl st narrow edges tog. Do not fasten off. Continue on to Body of Mitten.

Body of Mitt

Rnd 1. Ch 1, (does not count as a sc now and throughout) make 33, sts around working through tops of cuff rows. Do NOT join.

Rnd 2. (Sc in next st, dc in next st) around. (33 sts made.)

Rnd 3. (Dc in next sc, sc in next dc) around. (33 sts made.)

Rnd 4. (Sc in next dc, dc in next sc) around. (33 sts made. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until piece is 4" from cuff, ending with sc.

Divide for Can Holder

Prep for Divide. After the last sc you made above, loosely [ch 17. Skip 17sts. Sc in next dc. (This is your new beginning st.)

Rnd 1. (Dc in next sc, sc in next dc) 7 times. Dc in last st. On ch, ( sc in next ch, dc in next ch) 8 times. Sc in last ch. Do NOT join but begin working in the round now and throughout. (33 sts made.)

Rnd 2. (Dc in next sc, sc in next dc) around. End with dc in last st. (33 sts made.) Rnd 3. (Sc in next dc, dc in next sc) around. End with sc in last st. (33 sts made.) Repeat Rnds 2 and 3 until piece is 11" from divide.

End off at one of the sides leaving a long tail for sewing.

Prepping For Can Holder

Fold mitt over as shown below.

Pin and sew inside seams together making sure not to sew openings for hand closed.

Bring yarn to front.

Sew front seams together making sure once again to keep inside open. (I like to keep my hand inside to make sure I do not sew the insides together.)

Set piece aside.

Can Holder

With Gray yarn and H hook, make a magic circle. (Or ch 3.)

Beer Bottom

Rnd 1. Ch 2, (does NOT count as as st.) Make 12 dcs in ring. (If you opted to ch 3, make 12 dcs in 3rd ch from hook. The beg ch2 will not count as dc.) Join to top of 1st dc with sl st. (12 dcs made)

Rnd 2. Ch 1, make 2 hdcs in same st. Hdc in next st. (Make 2 hdcs in next st, hdc in next st) around. Join to top of 1st hdc with sl st. (18 hdcs made.)

Rnd 3. Ch 1, make 2 hdcs in same st. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. (Make 2 hdcs in next st, hdc in each of the next 2 sts) around. End with 2 hdc in last st. Join to top of 1st hdc with sl st. (26 hdcs made.) End off and weave in end.

Wine Holder

Rnd 1. With gray yarn and H hook, ch 18 and join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 2. Ch 1, make 2 scs in same st. Sc in next st. (Make 2 scs in next st, sc in next st) around. Join to top of 1st sc with sl st. (18 scs made.)

Rnd 3. Ch 3 and dc in same st. (Ch 1, sk 1 st, make 2 dc in next st) around. Join to top of 1st dc with sl st. (26 dcs made.) End off and weave in end.

Rnd 1. Attach Red yarn in any dc on last rnd and skip one ch1 or dc on rnd to make 26 sts. Ch 1 and sc in blo of each of dc and ch1 around. Do NOT join. (26 sts made.)

Rnd 2. Begin working through both red loops. Sc in each of the 26 sts around.

Rep Rnd 2 until piece is 5" from bottom to top. End off and weave in end.

Place holder inside of mitt openin as shown below and pin in place.

With red yarn sew top in place making sure to only sew through inside layer of mitt.

Set aside.

Mouth

With red yarn and H hook ch 28 and join to form a circle being carefull not to twist ch.

Rnd 1. Ch 2 and sc in each of the next 3 chs. Make 2 sc in next ch. (Sc in each of the next 3 chs. Make 2 sc in next ch) around. End rnd with sl st into 1st sc made. End off leaving a long tail to sew to cup holder. Set aside.

Teeth

Make 2-Row 1. With white cotton crochet thread and size 2 crochet hook, ch 7, sl st in second ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc in next ch. Dc in next ch. Trc in each of the last 2 chs. **Ch 7, sl st in second ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc in next ch. Dc in next ch. Trc in each of the last 2 chs. * Repeat from ** to * until a total of 6 teeth have been made. End off leaving a 20” tail to pin and sew to mouth as shown below.

I like to place a can in the holder to get a very rounded mouth, and then sew mouth to opening as shown below.

Set piece aside.

Dorsal Fin - Make 2

With Gray yarn and H hook, ch 9.

Row 1. Sc in 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn. (8 sts made.) Row 2. Ch 1, sc in each of the next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (7 sts made.) Row 3. Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (7 sts made.)

Row 4. Ch 1, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sc next 2 sts tog, turn (6 sts made.)

Row 5. Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (6 sts made.)

Row 6. Ch 1, sc in each of the next 4 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (5 sts made.) Row 7. Ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in each of the next 3 sts. Turn. (4 sts made.) Row 8. Ch 1, sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (3 sts made.) Row 9. Ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next st. Turn. (2 sts made.)

Row 10. Ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog. (1 st made.) End off and weave in end.

Finishing

Place both dorsal fins tog and join yarn through both pieces with a sl st as shown below.

Ch 1 and sc up straignt side, into tip and down next side. End off leaving a long tail to sew to mitt as shown below.

Pectoral Fins - Make 2

With Gray yarn and H hook, ch 8.

Row 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (7 sts made.)

Row 2. Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (7 sts made.)

Row 3. Ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in each of the next 3 sts, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (5 sts made.)

Row 4. Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (5 sts made.)

Row 5. Ch 1, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog. Turn. (3 sts made.)

Row 6. Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (3 sts made.)

Row 7. Ch 1, sc the next 3 st tog. (1 sts made.)

End off and weave in end. Sew both fins to mitt as shown below.

Eyes - Make 2

With Black yarn and H hook, make a magic circle and work 6 sc into the circle. Join to 1st sc made with sl st. Pull taut to close.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew to mitt as shown below.
