Materials Needed for Each

Size H crochet hook

Scraps of worsted weight yarn Darning Needle and Scissors

Abbreviations Used

ch = Chain

hdc = Half double crochet sl st = Slip stitch

blo = Back loop only

hdc2tog = Half double crochet two together (a decrease) sc = Single crochet

Mermaid Tail Cord Holder

Ch 11

Row 1. Hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and in each of the next 5 chs, sl st in the last 3 chs. (9 sts)

Row 2. Ch 1 and turn, blo sl st in next 3 sts, blo hdc in next 2 sts, blo 2 hdc2tog. (7 sts)

Row 3. Ch 1 and turn, (blo hdc2tog) x 2, blo sl st in next 3 sts. (5 sts)

Row 4. Ch 1 and turn, blo sc in each st across. (5 sts)

Row 5. Ch 1 and turn,blo, make 2 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, blo sl st in next 3 sts. (7 sts)

Row 6. Ch 1 and turn, blo sl st in next 3 sts, blo hdc in 2 next sts, make 2 blo hdc in each of the next 2 sts. (9 sts)

Row 7. Ch 1 and turn, blo hdc in next 6 sts, blo sl st in next 3 sts. (9 sts)

Ch 1, but do NOT turn. Work 3 sc across the flat end of the rows. (1 on each side and 1 in the middle.)

Cord Loop

Turn, ch 37 and sl st in the 13th ch from the hook and in each of the next 24 chs. Sl st into the tail. End off and weave in the end.

Whale Tail Cord Keeper

Starting at Tail End - Make 2

With Blue yarn make a magic circle and ch 1 to secure. Rnd 1. Ch 1 and make 6 sc in the ring. Do not join. (6 sts) Rnd 2. Sc in each of the 6 sts around.

Rnd 3. (Make 2 sc in the next st) x 6. (12 sts)

Rnds 4-5. Sc in each of the 12 sts around.

Rnd 6. (Sc in 2, sc2tog) x 3. (9 sts.) For 1st side end off and weave in the end.

2nd Side. Make as for 1st, but do not end off for side 2.

Joining

Pick up the 1st piece and insert your hook in any sc.

Rnd 1. (Note there is a total of 18 sts from both tails) Sc in the next 4 sts on piece 1 (sc2tog). *Sc in 4, sc2tog* x 2. (15 sts.) Work over the 2nd piece as if it were all one piece.

Rnd 2. * Sc in 1, sc2tog * x 5. (10 sts)

Rnds 3-4. Sc in the 10 sts around.

Flatten the tail and make 2 sc through both thicknesses.

Cord Loop

Turn, ch 37 and sl st in the 13th ch from the hook and in each of the next 24 chs. Sl st into the tail. End off and weave in the end.
