Materials Needed

Each piece takes under ¼ oz of any color 100% #4 worsted weight cotton yarn Size H crochet hook

Scissors and Darning Needle

What You’ll Need

  • Yarn: ~50 yards of Medium (4) Weight 100% Cotton.

  • Hook: 5.0mm (H) or 4.5mm (if you tend to crochet loosely).

  • Extras: A yarn needle to weave in ends.

    The Pattern Base & Setup

Foundation: Ch 13 (or any odd number that spans the width of your soap bar).

Round 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. When you reach the last ch, work 2 more sc into that same spot (to turn the corner). Continue sc down the opposite side of the foundation ch to the first sc to join.

    * Note: We are working in a continuous oval/rectangle to avoid a side seam. (26 sts)

    The Griddle Body

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the first st, dc in the next. Repeat [ sc, dc ] all the way around the bag. Do NOT join, we will be working in the round. (25 sts)

Round 3: Sc into the dc from the previous row. Dc into the sc from the previous row. (25 sts)

  • The Secret: You are always "opposite-matching"—put a dc into an sc, and an sc into a dc. This creates the texture.

Rounds 4–12 (or until desired height): Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until the bag is about 1/2 inch taller than your soap bar. (26 sts)

The Drawstring Top

Eyelet Row: Join to the next st with a sl st. Ch 4(counts as a dc and a ch 1). *Sk 1 st and dc in the next st, ch

1.* Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to the top of the starting Ch 2. (This creates the "holes" for your drawstring).

Finishing Row: Ch 1, sc in every stitch and every ch-space around. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

The Drawstring

Option A: Ch 50–60 (roughly 10-12 inches). Fasten off and knot the ends.

Assembly: Weave the cord in and out of the Eyelet Row. Pull tight and tie a bow!

Don't be alarmed if the bag looks a little small while dry. You want it to be a "slim fit" so the soap doesn't slide around inside.
