Materials Needed:

Size N crochet hook

2 ounces any color Worsted Weight Yarn

20 yards Black Cotton Crochet Thread – Bedspread weight Size 7 steel crochet hook

100 Beads or sequins or assortment of the two


With Worsted weight yarn and size N crochet hook, ch 21.


Row 1: Make 2 dc in 5th ch from hook. Ch 1, dc in next ch. Skip next 3 ch, make (dc, ch2, dc) in next ch. Skip next 3 ch, make (2 dc, in next ch) twice. Skip next 3 ch, make (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch. End with, skip 1 ch, dc in last ch. Ch 3 turn. (Ch 3 turning ch counts as first dc of next row now and throughout.)


Row 2: Skip first st, make * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 space of previous row. In next ch-1 space of previous row make (dc, ch 2, dc.) Repeat from * once more. End with dc in top of ch-3 turning ch. Ch 3, turn.


Next Rows: Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 17”. Do not ch 3 at end of last row.


Begin Narrowing for loop- Row 1: Ch 1, turn. Sc in 1st st. Sc in each ch-1 and ch-2 space across. End with sc in top of turning ch-3. (6 sc.)


Row 2: Note: This row is worked in back loop only (blo.) Sc in the blo of each of the 6 sc across. (This leaves front loop open to use later.) Ch 1, turn.


Rows 3-8: Working through both loops, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.


Begin Flare-Row 9: Skip first sc. * In next sc make (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc.) In next sc make (dc, ch 2, dc.) Repeat from * once more. End with dc in last sc.


Row 10: Skip first st, make * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 space of previous row. In next ch-1 space of previous row make (dc, ch 2, dc.) Repeat from * once more. End with dc in top of ch-3 turning ch. Ch 3, turn.


Rows 11-15: Repeat row 10 above. Do not ch 3 at end of row 15, but end off and weave in end.


Create Pocket-Row 1: Attach yarn in first unused loop of Begin narrowing for loop- Row 2. Sc in each of the 6 unused loops across. Ch 1, turn.


Rows 2-7: Working through both loops, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Do not ch 1 at end of row 7, but end off leaving a 12” tail. Use tail and darning needle to sew down. This creates a pocket to pull the opposite through.

Opposite Side-Row 1: Attach yarn and right edge of opposite side on beginning ch row. Make 6 evenly spaced sc across to begin narrow draw through.


Rows 2-8: Sc in each of the 6 sc across. Ch 1, turn. Do not ch 1 at end of 8th row, but ch 3 and turn.


Begin Flare-Row 9: Skip first sc. * In next sc make (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc.) In next sc make (dc, ch 2, dc.) Repeat from * once more. End with dc in last sc.


Row 10: Skip first st, make * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 space of previous row. In next ch-1 space of previous row make (dc, ch 2, dc.) Repeat from * once more. End with dc in top of ch-3 turning ch. Ch 3, turn.


Rows 11-15: Repeat row 10 above. Do not ch 3 at end of row 15, but end off and weave in end.


Beaded or Sequined Fringe: String about 100 beads or sequins on cotton crochet thread. Push down a few feet until ready to use.

Attach black cotton thread strung with beads or sequins, with size 7 steel crochet hook into the first st at scarf end. * Ch 11 and push a sequin or bead up towards the hook. Draw thread though and around bead or sequin to secure it. Sl st into 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 4 ch. Draw up another sequin or bead and draw thread through and around to secure. Sl st in the remaining 5 ch. (One leg of fringe created which has two sequins or beads.) Sc in

same st. Sc into next st and repeat from * across row making sure to keep work even. Repeat on opposite side of scarf.
