ABBREVIATIONS USED:
st = stitch ch = chain
sc = single crochet dc = double crochet sl st slip stitch
trc = treble crochet
GENERAL MATERIALS USED:
For Each Heart: Sizes G and 0 crochet hooks. 3 yards Worsted weight yarn scraps in Red and White. 6 yards Worsted weight Dark Blue yarn. 4 yards of white baby yarn. Darning needle.
For S” Star: Size N crochet hook and 8 yards White worsted weight yarn.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE HEART — 4” x 5”
Top ArCh — Make Two for each Heart — One red and one white.
ROW 1: With desired color and size G hook, ch 2, make 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. RoW 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in each sc. Ch 1 turn. (8 sc )
Center Square — Make 1
ROW 1: Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc ) RoW 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Small S Sided Star for Heart Center- Make 1 for each Heart
Rnd 1: With baby yarn and size 0 hook, ch2. Make 5 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Do not join.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc, ch1, dc) all in first sc, • ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, (dc, ch1, sc, sl st) all in next sc • •, (sl st, sc, ch 1, dc) all in next sc; rep from • around, end at • • ; join to first sl st with sl st. End off leaving a 10” tail. Sew to center of heart block as shown on cover. Set aside.
Large S Sided S” Star
Rnd 1: With Worsted weight white yarn and N hook, ch 2. Make 5 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Do not join.
*•, (sl st, sc, ch 1, dc) all in next sc; rep from * around, end at **; join to first sc with sl st. Fasten off and weave in end. Set aside.
Stringer:
With White worsted weight yarn, ch 10. SI st in 10'h ch from hook to make hanging loop. Ch 40, attach heart shape
in the following manne—r with right-side facing, sc between arches of heart at center. Ch 25, attach star shape in the
following manne—r with right-side facing, sc in any picot on star. Continue attaching shapes until they are all
attached having 25 chs between each shape. End with, ch 50, sl st in 10'h ch from hook to make last hanger. End off white and weave in end.
