1.5 ounces of Hair colored #4 worsted weight yarn and 1.5 ounces of Hat colored #4 worsted weight yarn. Size I crochet hook. Darning needle and scissors.

Rnd 1: With worsted weight yarn and I hook for XS and G for SM. Ch 1. Make 5 sc into ring. Join to first sc with sl st. (5 sc made.)

For ties attach yarn at ear center and ch 30. Sl st in each ch down and sl st back into hat. End off and weave in end. Repeat on opposite side.
Mohawk
Step 1: Begin by measuring the hat for hair placement: Measure from point “A” to point ‘B” as shown below. (This will be from the beginning of ear hole round to opposite point before cuff.) You will notice that mine measures 7”. Each hat will measure a different size according to your dogs size.
Hair Base
Row 1: (Mark this row as front.) With Black yarn, Ch 4, Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (3 sc made.) Ch 1, turn.
Small sizes: Row 2: Sc in 1st st. Make 2 sc in next st. Sc in last st. (4 sc made.) Ch 1, and turn. Large sizes: Row 2: Make 2 sc in first st. Sc in next st. Make 2 sc in last st. (5 sc made.) Ch 1 and turn.
Next Rows: Sc in each of the 4(5) sc across until piece is as long as the measurement you took in step 1. End off and weave in end.
Hair: Cut 4 to 5 pieces of 3” long black yarn for each row you created above. Hook yarn to black piece as shown below. (White yarn shown for photo purposes only.) Fold 1 strand in half. Insert hook in sc and hook the folded strand in the middle.
Pull loop through st on hat.
Hook long ends (tail) of hair.
Pull both hair strands through loop on hook and tighten.
Repeat until piece is covered.
Continue until black piece is covered.
Pin front to front that you marked previously. Pin at crown and down back of hat. Sew in place as shown below.
