Size: Approx 12" tall and 6" wide

Materials needed:

0.25 ounces of peach worsted weight yarn 2 ounces of Tan worsted weight yarn

2 ounce of Brown worsted weight yarn One 1 ½" diameter hair tie

Sizes H crochet hook.

Stitch Marker and darning needle Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Gauge: 15 sts = 4" and 16 rows =4"

Starting at bottom with Brown yarn, and size H hook make a magic circle

Rnd 1. Ch 1 and make 36 sc in the ring. Do NOT join but do mark 1st st. (36 sc made.)

Rnd 2. (Sc in each of the next 5 sts, make 2 sc in the next st) around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (42 sc made.)

Rnd 3. (Sc in each of the next 6 sts, make 2 sc in next st) around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (48 sc made.)

Rnd 4. (Sc in each of the next 7 sts, make 2 sc in next st) around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (54 sc made.)

Rnd 5. (Sc in each of the next 8 sts, make 2 sc in the next st) around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (60 sc made.)

Rnds 6 -16. Sc in each of the 60 sts around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (60 sc made.)

Begin decreasing

Rnd 17. (Sc in each of the next 4 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (50 Sc made.)

Rnd 18 - 23. Sc in each of the 50 sts around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. (50 sc made.)

Row 24. Sc 1st 2 sts tog. Sc in each of the next 25 sts sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in each st around. Join the 1st sc made with sl st. End off the brown yarn and weave in the end. (48 sc made.)

Shirt

Join Rust colored yarn in any st made on rnd 24. Note: you will still be working in rnds.

Rnd 1. Ch 1 and sc in each st around. (48 sc made.) Rnds 2 - 6. Ch 1 and sc in each of the 48 sts around. Begin Decreasing for Hat

Rnd 1. (Sc in each of the next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around. (42 sc made.)

Rnd 2. (Sc in each of the next 8 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times. (Sc in each of the next 9 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times. End off rust and weave in the end. (38 sts made.)

Attach Tan yarn in any st from the previous rnd.

Hat

Rnd 1. Sc in each st around. (38 sc made.) Do NOT join.

The entire next row will be worked in the back loop only (blo.) Rnd 2. Ch 1 and sc in the blo in each st around. (38 blo sc made.) This leaves front loops open to later to make the brim.

Rnd 3. Working through both loops, sc in each st around. (38 sc made.) Rnd 4. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over any 2 sts. (37 sc made.) Rnd 5. Sc in each of the 37 sts around.

Rnd 6. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (36 sc made.)

Rnds 7-8. Sc in each of the 36 sts around.

Rnd 9. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (35 sc made.)

Rnds 10-11. Sc in each of the 35 sts around.

Rnd 12. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (34 sc made.)

Rnds 13-14. Sc in each of the 34 sts around.

Rnd 15. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (33 sc made.)

Rnds 16-17. Sc in each of the 33 sts around.

Rnds 19-20. Sc in each of the 32 sts around.

Rnd 21. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (31 sc made.)

Rnds 22-23. Sc in each of the 31 sts around.

Rnd 24. Sc in each st around making 1 dec over an 2 sts. (30 sc made.)

Rnds 25-26. Sc in each of the 30 sts around. At the end of row 26 Join to 1st sc with sl st.

Beading Rnd

Rnd 27. Beg ch 4 counts as dc and ch 1. (Sk next st, ch 1 and dc in next st) around. End with ch 1 and sl st in

3rd ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 28. P(Make 2 dc in next ch 1 sp. Sl st in next dc) around. Last sl st will be in the last sl st from rnd 27. End off and weave in the end.

Brim

Turn work so the top of the bag holder is down and attach Tan yarn in an open loop from Hat Rnd 2.

Rnd 1. Ch 3 and dc in the same st. (Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Make 2 dc in the next st) around. Join the 3rd ch of beg ch3 with sl st. End off and weave in the end.

With Tan yarn, make a 20" cord in any matter preferred. Weave cord through top. Knot for a hanger if desired.

Nose

Rnd 1. With size H hook and Peach yarn, ch 2 or make a magic circle. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (or in magic circle.) Do NOT join, but do mark 1st st. (6 sc.)

Rnd 2. Make (2 sc in next sc) around. (12 sc.)

Rnd 3. Make (sc in next sc, make 2 sc in next sc) around. (18 sc.)

Rnds 4 - 5. Sc in each of the 18 sts around.

Rnd 6. (Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in next st) around. (12 sc.)

Rnd 7. (Sc next 2 sts tog) around. Join and end off weaving in the end. Stuff lightly if desired and glue to beard and hat as shown below.

Hands and arms - Make 2

Rnd 1. With peach and I hook make a magic circle. Ch 2 and make 6 sc in the circle. Do not join.

Rnd 2. Make 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc made.)

Rnds 3 - 7. Sc in each of the 12 sts around.. End off Peach and weave in the end. Attach Rust yarn in the last st worked.

Rnd 8. Ch 1 and sc in each of the 12 sc around. Do NOT join.

Rnds 9- 16. Sc in each st around. (12 sc made.) End off leaving a 12" tail. Flatten arms and sew ends closed. Sew or Glue to Gnome as shown below.

Leaves for Beard

(I used 10 for the beard and 1 for the cap.)

Select fall colored yarns for the maple leaves and make a magic ring.

Rnd 1. Ch 1 and make 12 hdc in the ring. Join to the top of the beg hdc with sl st. (12 hdc made.)

Rnd 2. In the next st, make (2 sc, 2 hdc, ch3 picot, 2 sc.) Sl st in the next st. In the next st make (2 sc, 2 hdc. Ch3 picot and 2 sc.)

For the middle of the leaf: Sl st in the next st. In the next st make (2 hdc, and 2 dc, picot, 2 dc and 2 hdc) Sl st in the next st.

[In the next st make (2 sc, ch3 picot, 2 hdc, 2sc.) Sl st in the next st] twice.

Stem

Ch 4, sc in the 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in each of the next 2 chs. End with a sl st into the next st on leaf base. End off and weave in the end. Set aside.

Glue to front as shown below. Note: I only applied hot glue to the top and the stem, this leaves the bottom open for layering more leaves. I used 10 leaves for the beard and 1 for the hat. Feel free to add more or less to your liking.

Hat Patches - Make 2 of Contrasting Colors

Row 1. With hook and yarn, ch 7. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (6 sc made.)

Rows 2-6. Ch 1 and turn. Sc in each of the 6 sts across. End off and weave in all ends.

With Dark brown yarn, sew to the hat (ruggedly) as shown below. Glue leaf to the side of the hat.

Fill with plastic bags and hang.
