All these edgings are started at the narrow edge and pattern can be repeated to make the lace as long as you want. All edgings are made with Number #10 cotton crochet thread (bedspread weight) and a size 8/1.50MM Steel crochet hook but could easily be adapted to any size thread or yarn using the appropriate crochet hook for yarn or thread size.
st = stitch ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet dc = double crochet (1 yo) sl st = slip stitch
trc = treble crochet (2 yo) dtrc=double treble crochet (3 yo) dec = decrease
yo=yarn over
Special Stitches: Picot- Ch 3, (unless otherwise indicated) sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
Row 2: In ch-3 loop make dc and ch 1. In same loop make (hdc, ch 2) twice and dc. Dc in top of next cluster. Ch 9, turn.
Row 3: In first ch-2 space make 2 dc clusters with a ch 3 between. Ch 1, skip remaining sts and trc in top of ch-3 turning ch. Ch 3 turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for desired length ending with row 3.
Row 2: Sl st in fourth ch from hook. Skip first st, sc in next st. (Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next st.) three times. (4 picots made.) Ch 5, skip 2 dc, sl st in next st. Ch 3, skip remaining sts, make dtrc in top of last dc. (Dtrc is made by yo 3 times and working the loops 2 at a time.) Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Make 12 dc over ch-5 loop. Ch 4, turn.
Row 4: Sl st in fourth ch from hook. Skip first st, sc in next st. (Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next st.) three times. (4 picots made.) Ch 5, skip 2 dc, sl st in next st. Ch 3, skip remaining sts, make dtrc in top of last dtrc made on row 2. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until desired length ending with row 4.
Edging 3 – Row 1: Ch 17, dc in 7th ch from hook and in each remaining ch across. (11 dc made and 1 ch-6 space.) Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Skip joining, dc in next dc. (Ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc.) 3 times. Make 7 dc over next loop. Ch 4, turn (counts as dc and ch-1.)
Row 3: Dc in top of same st as turning ch-4 was made. (Skip 1 dc. In next dc make dc, ch 1, dc.) 3 times. Dc in next dc. (Make 2 dc in next ch-2 space, dc in next dc) 3 times. Dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Skip turning ch-3, dc in next dc. (Ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc.) 3 times. (Dc in next dc. Ch 3, dc in next dc.)3 times Dc in next dc, ch 3, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch-4. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Sc in top first dc. (In next ch-3 space make sc, picot, sc) 4 times. Ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc. (Make 2 dc in next ch-2 space. Dc in next dc) 3 times. Dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat Rows 2-5 for pattern, ending with row 5.
Edging 4 – Row 1: Ch 14. Dc in 6th ch from hook. (Counts as first dc and ch-1 space.) Ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 4, skip 1 ch, dc in each of the next 5 ch. Ch 4 turn.
Row 2: Skip turning dc and next dc, dc in next dc. Ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc. Ch 4, make 5 dc in row 1 ch-4 space. Ch 4, turn.
Repeat Row 2 for pattern until desired length.
Row 2: Skip turning ch-5 st and next dc. Dc in next dc. (Ch 2, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 7 times. Ch 2, skip next dc, dc in top of last dc. (9 ch-2 loops made.) Ch 10, turn.
Row 3: Skip turning ch st and next 2 dc, sc in next dc. (Ch 4, sc in next dc) 5 times. Ch 4, sc in 3rd st of turning ch-5. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc in first sc. (In next ch-4 loop make sc, picot, sc. Sc in next sc) 6 times. Sl st into ch-10 loop. Ch 3, make 18 dc in loop. Ch 5, turn.
Row 5: Skip turning ch-5 st and next dc. Dc in next dc. (Ch 2, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 7 times. Ch 2, skip next dc, dc in top of last dc. (9 ch-2 loops made.) Ch 10, turn.
