2 ounces of Red worsted weight yarn. ½ ounce Black worsted weight yarn. ¼ ounce each White and Yellow worsted weight yarn.
Darning needle. Size G crochet hook.
Rnd 1: With size G crochet hook and Red colored worsted weight yarn, ch 18; Make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of the next 15 ch. Make 3 sc in end ch. Working along opposite side of ch, make a sc in each of the next 15 ch. Join to the first sc made with a sl st. (36 sc made.) Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 2: Sc first 3 sc together (sc cluster made.) Ch 1, * make a 3 sc cluster over the next 3 sts as follows: Insert hook back into same sc as last cluster st was worked and draw up a loop; (insert hook into next sc and draw up a loop) twice; YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 1 and repeat from* around. End with, ch 1 sl st into top of first sc cluster. (18 clusters made.) Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3: (The turning counts as first leg of cluster – now and throughout.) Sc next 2 sts together as follows: Insert hook in eye of first cluster and draw up a loop – next , insert hook into space between the next 2 clusters and draw up a loop. YO hook and draw through all 3 loops on hook. Beginning cluster made. Ch 1, * make a 3 sc cluster over the next 3 sts as follows: Insert hook back into same space as last cluster st was worked and draw up a loop; insert hook into eye of next cluster and draw up a loop; insert hook into next space between clusters and draw up a loop; YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 1 and repeat from * around. End with sl st into eye of first cluster made. (18 clusters made.) Ch 1, turn.
Make -2- Rnd 1: With Black yarn and size G crochet hook, ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc with sl st. End off Black and weave in end. (6 sc made.)
Rnd 1: Using Black yarn and size G hook, ch 13, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts. Dc in next st. (In next st make 2 trc) twice. Dc in next st. Hdc in next 2 sts. Sc in next st. Sl st in last st. Ch 1, working along opposite side of ch, sc in each ch across, sl st in end st.
Pin all pieces to sleeve as shown below .
Using tails sew all pieces in place. Add a couple extra stitches at sides of mouth if desired to look like photo below. Note: placing a jar inside the sleeve helps with those hard to sew spots.
