Materials Needed:

Two ounces Green colored worsted weight yarn. Size G crochet hook. Size 8 steel crochet hook and ½ ounce or about 50 yards white cotton crochet thread-size 10, bedspread weight. 5 yards Blue cotton crochet thread-size 10, bedspread weight. 8 yards Pink cotton crochet thread-size 10, bedspread weight. 2 yards Black Cotton crochet thread-size 10 bedspread weight. Large snap or 1” piece of Velcro.

Rnd 1: With size G crochet hook and Green

colored worsted weight yarn, ch 19; Make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each of the next 16 ch. Make 3 sc in end ch. Working along opposite side of ch, make a sc in each of the next 16 ch. Join to the first sc made with a sl st. (38 sc made.)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in joining st. Dc in next sc. * Sc in next sc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st in the first sc made. (38 sts made.)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, (counts as first dc now and throughout.) Sc in next dc. * Dc in next sc. Sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. End with sl st to top of first ch-3. (38 sts made.)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in joining st. Dc in next sc. * Sc in next dc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st in the first sc made. (38 sts made.)

Rnds 5-22: Repeat Rnds 3-4.


At end of Rnd 20 sl st into first sc made and into next 6 sts. This will put yarn in position to work on flap.

Row 2: Sc first 2 sc together through the back loops for a decrease. (Sc in flo of next sc, sc in blo of next sc) 6 times. Sc last 2 sc together through the front loops for a decrease. (14 sc made.) Ch 1, turn.

Sc around entire flap making enough sl sts to keep work even (about 26 sc each side and 3 in each corner for a total of 58 sc.) End off on the opposite side where the flap meets the body and weave in end.



Cheeks

Make 2-Rnd 1: With pink cotton crochet thread and size 8 crochet hook, ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc with sl st to form a ring. (6 sc.)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in each sc around. Join to first sc with sl st. (12 sc.)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next sc. Make 2 sc in next sc) around. Join to first sc with sl st. (18 sc.)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc in each of the next 2 sc. Make 2 sc in next sc) around. Join to first sc with sl st. (24 sc.)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, (sc in each of the next 3 sc. Make 2 sc in next sc) around. . Join to first sc with sl st. (30 sc.)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc in each of the next 4 sc. Make 2 sc in next sc) around. . Join to first sc with sl st. (36 sc.) End off leaving a 12” tail to sew face as shown below.


Eyes

Whites of Eyes – Make 2

Make 2-Rnd 1: With white thread and size 8 hook, ch 5, make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 2 ch. Make 3 sc in end ch. Working along opposite side of ch, sc in last 2 ch. Join to first sc with a sl st. (10 sc.)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, make hdc in same st as joining for an inc. (Make 2 hdc in next st) twice. Hdc in next 2 sts. (Make 2 hdc in next st) three times. Hdc in last 2 sts. Join to first hdc with sl st. (16 sc.)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around, making 3 evenly space increases at each end of oval. (22 sc.) Rnd 4: Repeat row 3. (28 sc.) End off white leaving a 12” tail to sew to face later. Set piece aside. Blues of Eyes - Make 2

Rnd 1: With blue thread and size 8 hook, ch 5, make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 2 ch. Make 3 sc in end ch. Working along opposite side of ch, sc in last 2 ch. Join to first sc with a sl st. (10 sc.)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, make hdc in same st as joining for an inc. (Make 2 hdc in next st) twice. Hdc in next 2 sts. (Make 2 hdc in next st) three times. Hdc in last 2 sts. Join to first hdc with sl st. (16 sc.) End off leaving a 12” tail so sew to whites of eye as shown below. Sew entire eye to cover as shown below. Using 2 stands of Black cotton crochet thead, make a cross stitch on each eye for the pupil.


Nostrils

Make 2-Rnd 1: With black cotton crochet thread and size 8 crochet hook, ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc with sl st to form a ring. (6 sc.)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in each sc around. Join to first sc with sl st. (12 sc.) Ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from and in next 2 ch. Sc in next ch. Hdc in last ch. Skip 1 sc on eye, sl st into next sc. End off leaving a 10” tail to sew to end of snout as shown below.



Teeth

Make 2-Row 1: With white cotton crochet thread and size 8 crochet hook, ch 6, sl st in second ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc in next ch. Dc in next ch. Make 2 trc in next ch. **Ch 7, sl st in second ch from hook. Sc in next ch. Hdc in next ch. Dc in next ch. Make 2 trc in next ch. * Repeat from ** to * until a total of 5 teeth have been made. End off leaving a 20” tail to sew to snout as shown below.

Finishing: Sew a snap or a strip of Velcro to the snout and the cozy body as shown below.
