    Assembly

  • Lay the Front Panel on top of the Back Panel.

  • Use the long tails to whip stitch the shoulders together.

  • Whip stitch the side seams together, from the bottom up to where the armhole shaping begins.

  • Weave in all loose ends.

  • Turn the sweater right side out.

    Finishing Neck

    Rnd 1. Join gray yarn to the bottom left corner of the neck opening. Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire neckline, working 2 sc into the end of each hbdc row along the sides, and 1 sc into each st across the top of the back panel. Join to the first sc with a sl st. End off and weave in the end.


    Rnd 2. Join Burgundy colored yarn in any st from the last rnd. Ch 1 and sc evenly around. Join to the first sc with a sl st. End off and weave in the end.

    Armhole Edging

    Rnd 1. With gray, join yarn to the bottom of one armhole. Ch 1, sc evenly around, working 2 sc into the end of each hbdc row. Fasten off. Weave in the end.


    Rnd 2. Attach Burgundy colored yarn in any st at the armhole. Ch 1 and sc around. Join to the 1st sc with a sl st. End off and weave in the end.

  • Repeat for the other armhole.

Finishing

Ch 1 and turn, make 3 sc in the tip, Make (3, 4, 6) sc down the inside of the spike.

Between spikes: Sl st in the next st. Sc in the next st and sl st in the next st. Make (3, 4, 6) sc up the inside of the spike. Make 3 sc in the tip. Make (9, 10, 11) sc up the raw side.

Make 3 sc in corner, sc in each st across the top and make (9, 10, 11) sc down the raw side. Join to the 1st sc made with a sl st. End off and weave in the end.


Join Burgundy yarn in the corner as shown below. (You will not need to work over the top.)


Sc evenly down sides and across the the bottom spikes making 3 sc in the tip of each spike and a sl st in the sc between the spikes. End off leaving a tail to later sew to the upper piece. Set aside.

Top Large Over Piece

With gray, ch (13, 15, 17)

Note: This appliqué is worked all in one piece. Do not finish off until told too.


Body

Rnd 1. With the Burgundy yarn make a magic circle. Ch 2 and make 12 dc in the ring. Join with sl st to first dc made. Pull tail taut to close the hole and weave in the end. (12 dc do not count the beg ch 2 as a st.)


Head and Neck

Ch 10 and sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc in next chain, (dc, ch 3 picot, dc) in next ch. Make 1 hdc in each of the rem 6 chs. Sl st in the next dc on the body. (1 sc, 2 dc, 1 picot, 7 hdc made.)


First Wing

Row 1. Sl st in the next dc on the body. Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from the hook. Make 1 sc in each of the last 7 chs. Sl st in the same st as the 1st sl st. Ch 1 and turn.
