Spike Stitch-Look for the stitch or space in the row below directly under where you would normally place the next single crochet.

Insert Hook: Insert your hook into the center of that lower stitch (or space) from the front to the back of the fabric.

Yarn Over (YO): Yarn over the hook.

Pull Up a Loop: Pull the yarn loop up through the fabric, stretching it up until it reaches the height of your current working row.

Pro Tip: Make sure this loop is pulled up loosely enough so it doesn't pucker the fabric!

Complete the Stitch: Yarn over again, and pull the yarn through both loops on your hook.
