Mainstays or Red Heart Super Saver #4 Red Yarn - 5 oz. Mainstays or Red Heart Super Saver #4 Spring Green Yarn - 3 oz. Mainstays or Red Heart Super Saver #4 White Yarn - 2 oz.

¼ oz. of Black #4 yarn Scraps of Yellow #4 yarn Darning Needle

Crochet hook in size I/5mm


Gauge: 12 sts = 4" and 15 rows = 4" Pattern Markings: Small, Med, Large Neck Opening:

With green yarn and I hook loosely ch 34 (44, 54) Being careful not to twist join to 1st ch with sl

st to form ring.


RND 1. Ch 1, **Loop st in next st. * Rep from ** to * around. Join to beg lp st. (34, 44, 54 loop sts made.) Do NOT join, but do mark 1st st.


Rep Rnd 1 twice more.


Continue to Body Row 1 for small and Medium


For Large size only: Repeat row 1 twice more. Continue to Chest/Body.


Chest/Body:


End off Green. TURN work to right Side and attach Red yarn.

RND 1. Ch 1, make (sc, dc) in first st. ** Sk next st, (sc, dc) in next st * rep from ** to *

around. Do NOT join but do mark 1st st. (34, 44, 54 sts made.)


RND 2. Make (sc, dc) in first sc. ** sk next st, (sc, dc) in next sc * rep from ** to * around,around, (sc, dc) in last dc. (36, 46, 56 sts made.) Note: By making a sc and dc in last dc you are adding 2 sts each row.

RNDS 3 through (8, 10, 16 ) rep row 2. (48, 62, 84 sts made.) Leg Holes:

RND 1: Make **(sc, dc) in next sc * rep from ** to * (0, 0, 1) more times. (2, 2, 4 sts total so

far). Sk next st, sc in next st. Loosely ch (7, 11, 15), sk (9, 13, 17) sts. [In next sc, make (sc, dc).] (10, 12, 19) more times. Sk next st, sc in next. Loosely ch (7, 11, 15), sk (9, 13, 17) sts. [In next sc, make (sc, dc)] Rep from [ to ] to end. Do NOT increase on this rnd.


Body

End off Red and weave in end. Attach black in last st worked.


Belt


Row 1. Ch 1 and sc in each st around. Join to 1st sc with dl st. (44, 58, 80 sts made.)


ROWS 2-4- FOR SMALL. Repeat Row 1. End off and weave in end.


ROWS 2-5- FOR MEDIUM. Repeat Row 1. End off and weave in end.


ROWS 2-6- FOR LARGE. Repeat Row 1. Repeat Row 2. End off and weave in end.

Attach Red yarn in last st worked.


RND 1: Ch 1, make (sc, dc) in

first sc. ** sk next st and (sc, dc) in next st * rep from ** to * around. (44, 58, 80 sts made.) Do NOT inc this rnd or next rnds.


Repeat Row 1 above until piece is approximately 5 1/2", 9 1/2", 14 1/2" from green top or until 2", 3", 3" from desired length.8


End off Red and weave in end. Attach white in center front st once again.


Row 1. Ch 1 and sc in each st around. Join to 1st sc with sl st. (44, 58, 80 sts made.)


IMPORTANT: Check for center. If piece is not centered, sl st or cut yarn and reattach center dc and continue with pattern.


Begin Body Tapering


Note: If your count is 2 or 3 sts off at this point it is OK. Just be sure to follow the decreases below.


Row 1. Ch-1, turn, sl st in first (2, 4, 6,) sts, sc in each of the next (38, 50 68) sts (leaving rem 2, 4, 6,) sts unworked. Sl st in next st. (40, 50, 68 sts made.) Not including sl sts.

Row 2. Sc in each st until last st. Sl st in last st. (38, 48, 66 scs made.) Note: I like to mark the 1st and last st on this rnd to make the decreases easier. Row 3. Sc in each st until last st. Sl st in last st. (36, 46, 64 scs made.)

Row 4. Sc in each st until last st. Sl st in last st. (36, 44, 62 scs made.) End off here for Small size and go to Green Bottom below.


Row 4. Sc in each st until last st. Sl st in last st. (36, 42, 60 scs made.) End off here for Medium and Large sizes and go to Green Bottom below.

Turn work to wrong side and attach Green Yarn in sl st at side.


Row 1. Ch 1, sk sl st and loop st next 2 sts tog. Loop st in each st across until last st. Loop st last 2 sts tog. End off and weave in end.


Turn work to once again to wrong side and attach Green Yarn at side.


Row 2. Ch 1, and loop st next 2 sts tog. Loop st in each st across until last st. Loop st last 2 sts tog. End off and weave in end.


Turn work to once again to wrong side and attach Green Yarn at side.


Row 3. Ch 1, and loop st next 2 sts tog. Loop st in each st across until last st. Loop st last 2 sts tog. End off and weave in end.


Finishing Leg Openings

RND 1. Attach red yarn in any st in leg opening. Ch 1 and make 16, 24, 32 sc around. Join to 1st sc with sl st. End off Red and weave in end.


RND 2. Attach white yarn in last st worked. Ch 2 and hdc in each st around. Join to end rnd. (16, 24, 32 sts and 1 ch-2 made.)


RND 3: Ch 2, ** fphdc around next st. Bphdc around next st. * Rep from ** to * around. Join to side of beg ch2 with sl st. ( 16, 24, 32 post hdcs made.) End off and weave in end.

Leg Fur - Both Legs

Rnd 1. Attach green yarn at wrong side in any of the sts from the rnd above. Ch 1 and

loop st in each st around. Join to 1st st with sl st.


Rnd 2. Repeat rnd above. End off and weave in end.


Hood

Row 1. Find middle front st of collar and put a marker into st.

Attach green yarn in the st to left of marker. Ch 1 and sc in each of the next 17 (21, 27.) Sc in

next st. (Mark as center back.) Sc in each of the next 17 (21, 27) sts across neck edge. Ch 1, turn. [35 (43, 55) sts made.]


Make inc or Dec as need on this row to have 1 marked st with 17 (21, 27) sts on each side.


Row 2. Sc in each of sc un til 2 sts before marker. Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in marked st and replace marker. Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in each remaining st across. Ch 1, turn. [33 (41, 53) sts made.]


Row 3. Sc in each of sc un til 2 sts before marker. Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in marked st and replace marker. Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in each remaining st across.Ch 1, turn.[31 (39, 51) sts made.]

For size small repeat row 8 until piece measures 3" or 1" less that desired length from hood begining row, Ending with right side. ROW 9. ** Sc in each of the next 6 sts. Sc next 2 sts tog. * Rep from ** to * across. Sc in each rem st. (20 sc made.) Go to Hood Top Finishing below. For medium size repeat row 8 until piece measures 4" or 1" less that desired length from hood begining, ending with right side. ROW 9. Sc in each of the next 11 14 sts. Sc next 2 sts tog. Sc in each rem st. (30 sc made.) Go to Hood Top Finishing below. For large size repeat row 8 until piece measures 6" or 1" less that desired length from hood begining ending with right side.

ROW 9. ** Sc in each of the next 13 sts. Sc next 2 sts tog. * Rep from ** to * across. Sc in each rem st. (40 sc made.) Go to Hood Top Finishing below.


Hood Top Finishing


Make sure you have 20 (30, 40) sts and are on the right side. You will begin working in rnds.


Rnd 1. With right Side facing, sc in 1st st on left side of hook and mark this st as beg.

Sc in each rem st around hood. [20 (30, 40)]. Front of hood is now joined.

Rnd 2. ** Sc in each 2 (4, 6) sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (15 25, 35 sts made.)


Rnd 3. ** Sc in each 1 (3, 5) sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (10 20, 30 sts made.)


Rnd 4. ** Sc in each 0 (2, 4) sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (5 15, 25 sts made.) For Small Size only, end off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through last 5 sts to close top. Secure and weave in end. For all other sizes continue.


Rnd 5. ** Sc in each (1, 4) sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (10, 20 sts made.)


Rnd 6. ** Sc in each (0, 3) sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (5, 15 sts made.)For Medium Size only, end off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through last 5 sts to close top. Secure and weave in end. For all Large size continue.


Rnd 7. ** Sc in each 3 sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.) * Rep from ** to * around. (10 sts made.)


Rnd 8. ** Sc in each 0 sts. Sc next 2 sts tog.* Rep from ** to * around. (5 sts made.) End off leaving a long tail. Weave tail through last 5 sts to close top. Secure and weave in end.

Make a green 2-3 inch pom pom and sew to top of hat.

Eyebrows- Make 2

With Black yarn and H jokes, ch 8. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem

ch. End off leaving a tail to sew to hood as shown below.

Finishing Back

Front White Trim Piece 1

Row 1. With white and H hook ch 5 for size small and 6 for all else. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (4, 5 scs made.)


Row 2. Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (4, 5 scs made.)


Repeat row 2 until piece reaches from neck to belt as show below. Pin and sew in place.

Bottom Piece

Follow the same directions as above making piece much shorter to fit bottom

of sweater.

Buckle

With Yellow yarn and H hook. Ch 20. Join to 1st ch to form a circle.


Rnd 1. Ch 1 and sc in each of the next 2 chs. (Make 3 sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 4 chs) 3 times. Make 3 sc in next ch. Sc in each of the last 2 chs. Join. End off leaving a tail. Using tail, pin and sew buckle to coat as shown below.
