Materials Needed:

24 – string-able glass red beads about 1/8” and 18 string-able glass black beads about 1/8”. Approximately ¼ ounce of each Black and Red #10 cotton crochet thread (bedspread weight.) Sewing needle and red thread. Size 7 steel crochet hook and darning needle for weaving in ends.


Black and Red Goth Choker Necklace Crochet Pattern:

Row 1: String twenty-four 1/8” small red beads on black cotton crochet thread. With size 7 steel crochet hook ch 99.

Row 2: Make dc in 4th ch from hook. (Counts as first 2-dc group.) *Ch 2, skip next 2 chs. Dc in each of the next 2 chs. Repeat from * across. (Twenty-five groups of 2-dc and 24 ch-2 spaces made.) Ch 1, turn work 90 degrees to the right. This puts you in position to begin first round.

Rnd 1: Working across the last dc you made on Row 2, make 3 sc. Continue working across beginning ch. Make a sc in base of each of the first 2 dc. *Make 2 sc in next ch-2 space. Make sc in base of each of the next 2 dc. Repeat from * across beginning ch. Turn work 90 degrees to the right and make 3 sc across side of end dc. Turn work 90 degrees to right again to begin working on the opposite side. Sc in top of each of the first 2 dc. *In next ch-2 space make (sc, ch 1, draw up a bead, ch 1 and sc.) Make 1 sc in each of the next 2 dc. Repeat from * across. Join to first sc with sl st. (Mark center shell and set piece aside.)

Next Row: Skip joining and sc in each of the next 3 sc. (This puts thread in position for row.) Ch 2, make 2 dc in same st. * Skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc. Ch 2, make 2 dc in same st. Repeat from * across until a total of 33 shells have been made. End last shell with skip 2 sc, sl st in next st. End off and weave in end.

Flower-Make 9 (2 for tie and 7 for front of necklace) - Rnd 1: With Red thread and size 7 steel crochet hook, ch 2. Make 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first sc with sl st.

Round 2: Ch 2, dc in joining. In next sc make (dc, ch 2,and sl st.) * In next sc make (sl st, ch 2 and dc.) In next sc make (dc, ch 2 and sl st.) Repeat from * 3 more times for a total of 5 petals. Join to 1st sl st with sl st. End off red and weave in end. Set aside.

Finishing Flower: Sew 2 black beads to center of flower on either side. Join black thread to flower between any two petals.

Center Flower 1 Stem - Make 1: With black thread between petals, ch 12, leave 10” tail for sewing. Sew to Necklace in center of marked shell.

Side Flower 2 Stem - Make 2: With black thread between petals, ch 9, leave 10” tail for sewing. Sew each flower to Necklace skipping one shell before and after center shell.


Side Flower 3 Stem - Make 2: With black thread between petals, ch 6, leave 10” tail for sewing. Sew each flower to Necklace skipping one shell before and after last flowers added on either side.

Side Flower 4 Stem - Make 2: With black thread between petals, ch 4, leave 10” tail for sewing. Sew each flower to Necklace skipping one shell before and after last flowers added on either side.

Assembling Necklace – Row 1: Attach Black thread on either side of necklace. (One of the 3 scs made on Round 1 over side of dc.) Ch 1, sc in joining and in each of the next 3 sc. (4 sc made.) Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in first sc. Make sc dec over next 2 sc. Sc in last sc. (3 sc.) Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sc in first sc, skip next sc, sc in last sc. (2 sc.) Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Make sc dec over both sc. (1 sc.) Ch 75. End off leaving a 10” tail to sew to small flower.

Repeat Rows 1-5 on opposite side of necklace.

Finishing: Sew flower to end of tie.
