The Diamond, or Kite, Granny is geometrically similar to the square, but it starts differently with a ch 7 instead of a ch
5. Both the top and the bottom corner will be a ch 4 between cluster groups of 4. While a traditional square is worked flat on its sides, the diamond is worked on its points.
Round 2. Note: the top and the bottom contain 4 dcs and ch 4 to elongate the diamond: Sl st into the beginning ch 4 sp. Ch 7 and make 4 dc in the sp. Ch 2 and in the next ch 2 sp make (3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc) for side corner. Ch 2, in the bottom ch 4 sp make (4 dc, ch 4 and 4 dc) for bottom corner. Ch 2, in the next ch 2 sp make (3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc) for the next side corner. Ch 2, in the top ch 4 sp (where you began) Make 3 dc. Join to the 3rd st (remember the ch 7, the 1st 3 chs counted as a dc) of the beginning ch 7 with a sl st.
Round 3. Sl st into the beginning ch 4 sp. Ch 7 and make 4 dc in the sp. Ch 2 and in the next ch 2 sp make 3 dc. Ch 2, in the side corner make (3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc). Ch 2 and in the next ch 2 sp make 3 dc. Ch 2, in the next ch 4 sp (The elongated bottom) make (4 dc, ch 4 and 4 dc.) Ch 2, and in the next ch 2 sp make 3 dc. Ch 2, in the side corner make (3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc). Ch 2, in the next ch 2 sp make 3 dc and ch 2. Make 3 dc in the beginning ch 4 and join to the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 7 with a sl st.
Structure: The Diamond Granny has four corners.
