- Blue – 25 yards

Starting at center, with white thread and size 7 hook, ch 6 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, * (sc in ring, ch 3) Repeat from * 8 more times. End with ch 1, hdc in beginning sc to from last loop. (10 loops.)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in loop last formed. (Ch 3, sc in next ch 3 loop.) 9 times. End with ch 1, hdc in first sc to form last loop. ( 10 loops.)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in loop last formed. * ch 6, sc in next ch 3 loop, ch 3, sc in next ch 3 loop; Repeat from * 3 times more. End with ch 6, sc in next ch 3 loop, ch 1, hdc in first sc to form last ch 3 loop.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in loop last formed. * (make 5 dc, ch 2, 5 dc) in next ch 6 loop, sc in next ch 3 loop. Repeat from * 4 times more. Ending with sl st in beginning sc. End off and weave in end.
Rnd 5: Join blue with a sl st in any ch 2 loop on star. Ch 1, sc in same loop. * Ch 4 (in next sc make dc, ch 4, dc) ch 4, sc in next ch 2 loop. Repeat from * around. End with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in joining. * In next loop make 5 sc, sc in dc, make 4 sc in next loop, sc in dc, make 5 sc in next loop, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st for an increase in that sc. Join to the first sc with a sl st. (85 sc.)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in joining. * Ch 3, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in beginning sc to form last ch-3 loop. (43 ch-3 loops.)
Rnds 8 and 9: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed. * Ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in first sc to form last ch-3 loop.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, make 2 sc in loop just formed. * Make 3 sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. End with 1 sc in last loop, join to first sc with sl st. End off blue and weave in end.
Rnd 11: Attach white with sl st in any sc. Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join to top of ch-3 with sl st. End off white and weave in end. (129 dc.)
Rnd 12: Attach red with sl st in any dc. Ch 1, sc in next st. * Ch 3, skip 1 st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in first sc to join. (64 loops.)
Rnd 13: Repeat Rnd 8.
Rnds 14 and 15: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed. * Ch 4, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, dc in first sc to form last ch-4 loop.
Rnd 16: Ch 1, make 2 sc in loop just formed. Make 3 sc in each loop around. End with 1 sc in last loop. Join with sl st to first sc. (192 sc.)
Rnd 17: Repeat Rnd 11 End off white and weave in end. (192 dc.)

First Small Star Motif
Stating at center, with white thread and size 7 hook, ch 5 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, * (sc in ring, ch 3) Repeat from * 8 more times. End with ch 1, hdc in beginning sc to from last loop. (10 loops.)
Ch 1, sc in loop last formed. * ch 5, sc in next ch 3 loop, ch 3, sc in next ch 3 loop; Repeat from * 3 times more. End with ch 5, sc in next ch 3 loop, ch 1, hdc in first sc to form last ch 3
Rnd 2: loop.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in loop last formed. * (make 4 dc, ch1, 4 dc) in next ch 5 loop, sc in next ch 3 loop. Repeat from * 4 times more. Ending with sl st in beginning sc. End off and weave in end.
Rnd 4: Join blue with a sl st in any ch 1 loop on star. Ch 1, sc in same loop. * Ch 3 (in next sc make dc, ch 3, dc) ch 3, sc in next ch 1 loop. Repeat from * around. End with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in joining. * In next loop make 3 sc, sc in dc, make 2 sc in next loop, sc in dc, make 3 sc in next loop, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join to the first sc with a sl st. (55 sc.)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in joining. * Ch 3, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in beginning sc to form last ch-3 loop. (27 ch-3 loops.)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, make 2 sc in loop just formed. * Make 3 sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. End with 1 sc in last loop, join to first sc with sl st. End off blue and weave in end.
Rnd 8: Attach white with sl st in any sc. Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join to top of ch-3 with sl st. End off white and weave in end. (81 dc.)
Rnd 9: Attach red with sl st in any dc. Ch 1, sc in next st. * Ch 3, skip 1 st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in first sc to join. (40 loops.)
Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed. * Ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, hdc in first sc to form last ch-3 loop. Finish off and weave in end.
Place Motif Markers:
Using small 2” scraps of blue and white thread for markers, use the following directions to place makers on motifs for joining.
Using Blue 2” thread for left side markers; Place 1st side marker in any loop. Place 2nd blue side marker in 8th loop from first side marker. (6 open loops between markers.)
Using White 2” thread for bottom doily markers; Working from last blue maker placed, skip one loop and place white marker in next loop. Count 8 loops from marker and place last bottom white marker . (6 open loops between white markers.)
Using Blue 2” thread for right side markers; Working from last white marker placed, skip one loop and place blue marker in next loop. Count 8 loop from marker and place last blue side marker. (6 open spaces between 3rd and 4th blue markers.)
Notes: The 14 open loops at the top of the motif will be used for doily edging attachment. It is easier if you do not remove makers until piece if finished.

To Join Motifs
Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed. (Ch 3, sc in next loop) 14 times. Holding motifs side to side with blue markers matching and white markers down, * [ch 1, sc in loop of the completed motif (first motif), ch 1 sc in new motif (2-7 motifs) ] Repeat from * 7 more times or until next marker to attach 1st and second motifs together. Continue working around second motif with (ch3, sc in next loop.) Join with a sl st in first sc. Finish off and weave in end. Rnd 10: For Eight Star Motif, work joining as for other markers except join between side markers on 7th motif and side markers on 1st motif to form a complete circle of motifs.
Attaching Ring of Motifs to Doily Base:
Attach Red thread to any loop on rnd 18 of doily. Ch 1 sc in loop just formed. * (ch 4, sc in next
loop on doily) 4 times. Join motif as follows: (ch 1, sc in first motif in white
marked loop, ch 1 sc in next loop on doily) 8 times (until next white marked loop.). Repeat from * around. End with a sl to first sc. End off red and weave in end. There will be 4 unused loops between each motif on the doily.
Doily Edging:
Rnd 1: Attach red thread in any of the 1st blue marked loops. Ch 1, sc in same loop, ch 1 sc in next marked loop on motif. * (Ch 4, sc in next loop) 15 times to next blue marked loop. Ch 1 sc in next blue marked loop. Repeat from * around. End with (ch 4, sc in next loop) 14 times, ch 4, sl st in beginning sc. Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in next loop. *[ (ch 5, sc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2) sc in next loop] 14 times. Ch 1 sc in next loop. Repeat from * around sl st in beginning sc. End off red and weave in end. Starch and block doily as desired.
